Cutting Sorter 650

Patented sorting system for plant cuttings.
For fast infeed, precise inspection and error-free sorting of individual plant cuttings based on stem thickness, length and leaf volume.

From quality variation to automated uniformity

Plant cuttings are grown at various locations worldwide and harvested by hand. Because of the human factor in manual sorting, batches often retain too much variation in quality. This results in uneven growth, greater production loss and, ultimately, a lower product price at market or auction.

In addition, rising labour costs and the shortage of qualified staff create operational risks.

The Cutting Sorter 650 permanently resolves these bottlenecks by delivering data-driven uniformity and minimising your dependence on manual labour.

A flawless process in 5 steps

The Cutting Sorter 650 fully automatically transforms unsorted tangles of cuttings into perfectly categorised end products. To do this, the system runs through an extremely precise, five-stage process:

1. Infeed: The harvested cuttings can be placed directly onto the infeed conveyor in tangles, manually or fully automatically, from boxes or bags.

2. Separation: From the central supply, the cuttings are mechanically separated so that each cutting can be inspected individually.

3. Inspection: Advanced optical sensors capture images of each individual cutting at high speed. The intelligent software immediately classifies the material based on three crucial parameters: stem thickness, stem length and leaf volume.

4. Sorting & Ejection: Based on real-time classification and your pre-set quality standards, the individual cuttings are pneumatically sorted and ejected at high speed.

5. Collection: The sorted, uniform cuttings are neatly collected in crates by quality class, ready for immediate further processing or transport.

Exceptional processing capacity

Fast and precise sorting of enormous volumes of cutting material without any loss of quality.

Optimal uniformity

Consistent cutting material ensures even growth in the greenhouse, simultaneous flowering and a predictable harvest.

Higher market value

By minimising rejects and delivering a premium, homogeneous product quality, you achieve a higher market price.

Frequently Asked Questions

The machine has an average sorting capacity of approximately 65,000 units per hour. The exact capacity is flexible and depends on the type and size of cutting material you are processing at the time.

The sorting line was specifically developed for chrysanthemum cuttings or similar plant material. If you wish to automate a different type of cutting or plant material, this will need to be tested beforehand to validate the exact operation and accuracy.

The integrated optical sensors assess each individual cutting at high speed against three fixed measurements: stem thickness, stem length and total leaf volume. The parameters for each sorting grade can be freely configured via the software interface.

The number of sorting grades (the physical ejection lanes) is not fixed. The number of sorting grades can be flexibly adjusted depending on your specific operational needs or your customers' quality requirements.

The system does not require a strictly pre-sorted supply. The cuttings can be fed in manually or automatically, with the cuttings placed directly onto the infeed conveyor in tangles from boxes or bags. The machine then singulates them independently.
