Vacancy: Software-Hardware Engineer

High Tech Alliance is a project organisation with its own workshop, developing innovative and challenging mechatronic solutions, where the disciplines of design, technology and knowledge come together and reinforce one another. We develop, design and deliver innovative industrial products and (custom) machines for both the domestic and international market, across a range of industries. Due to our growing number of challenging projects, we are looking to connect with an ambitious Software-Hardware Engineer for our Valkenswaard location.

Are you the Software-Hardware Engineer with a few years of experience, who wants to grow and develop further into a specialist, who enjoys working on innovative and sustainable solutions with a positive impact on society, at an informal, forward-thinking organisation with short lines of communication? Then we would love to talk to you.

Your challenges

As Software-Hardware Engineer, you will be part of a multidisciplinary project team. From concept development through to delivery, you will be involved both technically and organisationally in the development and realisation of innovative, customer-specific machines and technical products.
You contribute creative thinking during the concept phase, realise a ‘proof of concept’, and go on to shape and work out the concept based on the specifications in a modern engineering and software environment. In short, a varied and challenging role within a multidisciplinary environment.

Your responsibilities also include:

  • System architecture, concept design, engineering of schematics, programming PLC and PC controls, testing and everything related to this, while being (jointly) responsible for the development of high-quality mechanical and mechatronic machines, modules and technical products such as robotics, AGV systems, production machines, industrial products and tools.
  • Preparing or assisting with drawing up machine or product specifications;
  • Overseeing testing and inspection work, acting as the technical point of contact in your field, and being available to your colleagues with questions during assembly, testing or commissioning at the client, in a supporting role.
  • Helping out hands-on where needed during the assembly and realisation of systems in our workshop, and during commissioning at the client;
  • Being (jointly) responsible for the design and maintaining good contact throughout the project with those around you, such as the client, project team members and suppliers. The interfaces with mechanics, electronics, software and production consistently play an important role here;
  • Carrying out or assisting with feasibility studies, design and process FMEAs and reviews, and supporting FAT/SAT acceptance testing internally and at the client's site.
I started working at High Tech Alliance because there is still such great diversity here. One moment I'm working on practical mechanical tasks, the next I'm writing software. All of my interests are engaged in my work!

What you'll be doing

As Software-Hardware Engineer, you will be part of a multidisciplinary project team and involved in the project from concept development through to realisation of the prototype. In the role of Software-Hardware Engineer, you devise innovative concepts for the challenge, independently or together with your teammates, and develop them in such a way that a working system with the correct technical functionality is delivered to the client.

About you

You have:

  • Completed a university of applied sciences (HBO) or university (WO) level degree in Mechatronics/Control Systems Engineering or equivalent;
  • A few, ideally several, years of relevant work experience as a Software-Hardware Engineer in the field of robotics and/or custom machine building;
  • You design schematics and PLC/PC control software, build test and prototype setups, and carry out tests;
  • You support and guide the project from concept and prototype to pilot production run, and workshop activities during assembly, testing and commissioning
  • Theoretical and practical knowledge of software such as structured text, C/C++, Python, etc. for general machine control, motion control, ROS, HMI, SCADA, data acquisition, and so on.
  • A strong command of Dutch and English, both spoken and written;
  • An enthusiastic and flexible working attitude, along with strong communication and social skills;

Successful engineers are not only a stable source of knowledge and experience, but are also naturally curious about everything happening beyond their own field. For demanding and complex innovation and R&D projects, an enthusiastic, open and collaborative attitude is essential.
